Daniel Lehman is an experienced writer, reporter, and editor based in New York City. He is currently a staff writer for Backstage, an entertainment industry trade publication for actors, where he specializes in covering film, TV, comedy, casting, and the performing arts. Mr. Lehman is a versatile writer of news, interviews, cover stories, and more for print and online publication.

Previously, as an Assistant Casting Editor at Backstage, Mr. Lehman was responsible for the hundreds of casting notices published each week. From editing and proofreading, to customer service, to forming relationships with casting directors and union reps, he learned nearly every aspect of the industry. He was also a frequent contributing writer for Backstage in print and online, as well as Blog Stage, the official Backstage staff blog. He became a proud representative of the brand, and created and led the publication’s initial social media strategy.

Mr. Lehman attended New York University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Journalism and Cinema Studies.

During his academic career at NYU, Mr. Lehman was an intern for Filmmaker Magazine (circulation: 60,000) and amNewYork (Manhattan’s most widely circulated daily newspaper), where he gained experience in the production of both trade magazines and daily newspapers.

Mr. Lehman’s work has been published in print and online publications including Backstage, Laughspin.com, amNewYork, Filmmaker Magazine, the New York Resident, The Jewish Exponent, NYU’s Washington Square News, and more.
